From the Desk of the President…
During Catholic Schools Week, we gathered as a faith-filled Lasallian community to celebrate the gift of education rooted in the Gospel and the charism of St. John Baptist de La Salle. It was truly inspiring to witness the zeal of our students, families, and staff, all united in our shared mission of transforming lives through faith, service, and learning. As a Lasallian ministry, we are committed to forming young people not only in academic excellence but also in faith and fraternity, preparing them to be signs of hope and agents of change in the world.
One of the most special moments of the week was our participation in the Archdiocese of Miami’s Catholic Schools Week Mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary. We were honored to be invited to take part in the procession of banners as a new Catholic school, a powerful symbol of our presence and mission in South Dade. The excitement in our students’ eyes was unmistakable as they watched their classmates proudly carry the La Salle Educational Center banner down the aisle, in the spirit of our global One La Salle initiative, proclaiming, “We are Lasallian!” It was a deeply moving experience that reinforced our shared commitment to Catholic education. Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim Rigg extended a warm welcome to our community and even gave us a special mention as the newest Catholic school—a moment of great pride and affirmation for our students and staff.
Back on campus, our students engaged in creative activities throughout the week, reflecting on what makes their education at “the Little School” so meaningful. Through artwork and personal reflections, they expressed their gratitude for a school where they feel known, loved, and supported in their journey of faith and learning. Their joy and enthusiasm reminded us all why we do this work—to accompany young people as they grow in wisdom, faith, and service.
This week of celebration also fills us with anticipation for the future, as we stand on the threshold of exciting developments that will allow us to expand our mission and serve even more students across South Dade County. Stay tuned—great things are on the horizon! Together, as a Lasallian family, we move forward in faith and zeal, embracing the journey ahead with hearts open to God’s call.
In the Spirit of Saint La Salle,
Michael Scaramuzzo
